Seamus's father was known as Patch Finn, his mother was Doherty from near Charlestown. Patch's sister Bridget was Tom (Tank) Forkin's mother.
Seamus had sisters Maggie Martin and Anne Finn Early who lived in Covington, Kentucky and were the sponsors of his daughter Bridget when she went to America in 1901.
Nancy had a brother known as Jack (Matthew) Finn who was married to Biddie ( Tommy ) Finn of Crowhill and had sons John, Mick and Tom. John died in a garden in Slievemore. Mick died of pnuemonia at about 41. Tom (Jack) Finn took over Mick ( Tommie ) Finn's (Biddie's brother) farm in Crowhill, but returned to Slievemore after his brothers died. He married Mary ( Brackley ) Phillips from Kilgarriff and had four children Mary Kate, Michael, Bridget and Johnny.
Nancy's sister Mary was a teacher at Cloontia school and married Ned Rue Finn from Ballahere.
Nancy's sister Katie was married to Edward McGeever. Their children were :-
Tom emigrated to Yorkshire, UK where he married Gertrude. They had a son, Harold.
Bridget was the first of the children to go to America, the other girls followed. Here is a photo of Seamus and Nancy's daughters, presumably taken in America in the 1950s.
Patrick followed his sisters to the United States; arriving in New York on the 25th March 1911. They all lived in the area known as 'Greater Cincinnati' where Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana meet. He worked as a labourer but died after only six years in America. He went to the northern part of Ohio to visit relatives and drowned in Lake Erie.
James married my mother's Aunt Maria and lived on the home farm.
Matthew probably died in infancy.
Many thanks to Tom (Jim) Finn of Cloontia and Mary Bihn of Cincinnati for all their help with the information on this page.
